Community Builder's Retrospective
Sharing my journey as community builder for Crypto, Culture and Society DAO in semester II
Wow, Crypto, Culture and Society DAO’s semester II went by so fast. And wow, the entire team learnt so much.
Crypto, Culture and Society (CCS) is a DAO building liberal arts education for the crypto space. Read more about their mission here and check out the semester II announcement here.
In the coming weeks, I will share a series of newsletters as a retrospective on building community for CCS in semester II. Here you will read my reflections on the experiments we did and their outcomes. Some experiments went as we expected and others taught us lessons the hard way. I hope that you can accelerate your journey towards the right experiments in community building by reading this.
My role as community lead was to understand how we can create and nurture deeper connections amongst learners. I focused on finding ways to encourage the level of connection that would lead ‘learners to eventually invite each other to their weddings’!
I will be covering a variety of community building topics including:
Pre-semester
Interviewing to be a DAO community leader
Pre Semester Prep for an Education DAO
DAO Discord flow
Processing applications
Orientation week
Orientation call
Intentionally creating small group feels
Open door policy for the community
Enabling learners to contribute
Community contribution
Case study: dive into a starter pack produced by CCS learners
Seeking feedback
Post-workshop survey learnings
Always be community researching
Team operations
Internal team communication
Conflict resolution
Human relations for a decentralised team
If you want to connect with me to go deeper on any of the learnings or if you want to suggest a topic I should write about, please reach out. My DM’s are always open and I try to get back to everyone @0xCaryn on Twitter.
Excited to have you here for the ride!
